Awards

Learn what it takes to be the best of the best at SSICSIM as delegates, delegations, or as staff!

Committee Awards

Committee awards at SSICsim recognize students who succeed in the aspects of participating in a crisis committee. These delegates are ones who make good use of personal directives; pose many substantive action directives; articulate and present clear ideas in moderated caucus; ensure they embody the policies of their character/country; work collaboratively with others in unmoderated caucus; present innovative ideas to tackle pressing issues and crises; and respond to crises quickly and effectively.

Please note that each of the following awards are presented in all committees, and that Committee Directors are limited to one recipient per award.

Conference Awards

Group delegations who register for SSICsim will be eligible to receive an award for Best Group Delegation based on the performances of its delegates in our crisis committees.

Once committee awards are decided, each delegation will receive a score, based on how many awards their delegates win, to determine the winner of the overall conference awards. The delegation with the highest score proportional to their size will be the recipient of this award (NOTE: The delegation winning best overall is automatically disqualified from the other two awards). The scoring system is as follows:

  • Best Delegate (3 points)

  • Outstanding Delegate (2 points)

  • Honourable Mention (1 point)

  • Best Novice Delegate (1 point)

Ali Saeed Memorial Award.

The Ali Saeed Memorial Award was established in September 2014 in memory and celebration of Ali Saeed, a dear friend of the SSICsim conference.

This award is presented to recognize one or more outstanding staff members who show exemplary commitment, dedication, and positivity in their work on the conference. The Ali Saeed Award focuses on the ability of an individual to inspire inclusivity and happiness around them through their attitude and approach to others.
