Canada’s Premier Model UN Crisis Simulation

An unprecedented MUN experience.
Founded in May 2011, SSICSIM is an annual Model UN crisis conference hosted by UofT students for high school level delegates that offers an innovative and unprecedented conference experience.
While most standard MUN conferences emphasize measured and structured diplomacy, at SSICSIM, we challenge our delegates to “think outside of the box” by responding, adapting, and reacting to evolving scenarios that demonstrate real-time crises. So, our delegates get a taste of how political decision-making really works.
Committees Types
Historical
Historical Crises are, well, historical committees! They bring to life major historical events, be it ancient, medieval, or modern, and implore delegates to reimagine them through various lenses or recreate the events of the past, often with a more academic approach to understanding history and its agents.
Fictional
Fictional Crises bring to life the fantastical worlds of real fiction pieces (ie. Cinema, TV, Books, Adaptations of Current Events, etc.). Here, delegates will need to bring their knowledge of these fictional worlds in order to fully explore the scope of the committee and it’s alternate storylines.
Concept
Concept Crises are an opportunity for delegates to engage critically with complex, unconventional crises mechanics/topics. Delegates in these committees might find themselves challenged with non-traditional modes of debate or mechanics and crisis arcs that cannot be fully pre-researched.
Land Acknowledgment
We wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto and Secondary School Interactive Crisis Simulation operate. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
